The design unifies the downtown area expressing its historic qualities while at the same time complimenting the new developments.  This was accomplished through the use of new street lighting, burying the overhead utilities, providing new street trees, and new street furniture selected and located to provide uniformity, balance and aesthetic appeal.  All of the improvements work cohesively to enhance the heart of our community.

The design is as functional as it is aesthetic, borrowing ideas from the past, while introducing new technology to lead the City of Edwardsville into the future, creating an environment which is user friendly and fresh.  The downtown redevelopment as a public sector project is designed to lure new development and attract similar reinvestment from the private sector.
