The 1,200 sq.ft. Welcome/Interpretative Center was designed as an Educational and Public Facility to support the 50-acre wetlands park.
The building is sited on a peninsula projecting into one of the lakes and is oriented to take full advantage of the views over the wetlands.
The center was designed for public and semi-public use and constructed of materials to reflect those functions. The semi-public side includes a multi-functional area to be used for lectures, displays, meetings and labwork with a kitchenette and office space. These areas are wood framed with cedar siding and shakes. The public area provides handicap restrooms and an informational kiosk and is available for public use when the semi-public side of the center is closed. This side is constructed of C.M.U. to provide durability and maintainability.
